If organizing your home is the long-term goal, then organizing your wardrobe is a good start. Here we take on specific challenges for three different users, but with solutions that everyone can learn from.
When your life revolves around couture, sooner or later your clothes risk drowning you. To avoid this, make it a habit to revalue your garments. Let the ones that you don’t actively enjoy make someone else happy.

They may not work for you anymore, but are way too precious to let go of. Then make an exhibition of your greatest hits.
Storage Ideas For Small Spaces
Use hooks on the inside of the doors to get more looks into view. Hang garments side by side, mix, match and decide which ones are ready to hand over to the next owner.
There’s no need to do it often, but set a date in the calendar when you look through everything. Be tough, give away, and you will have wardrobe space again.
Creating harmony in your wardrobe comes down to recognizing what’s important to you. Both in deciding how to organize your wardrobe, and knowing when to let go of old clothes.
Easy Wardrobe Storage Ideas To Maximise Space
With every member in a family, there are new needs to be met. Key challenges are accessibility (for all heights), knowing what’s where, and using the wardrobe’s volume to the fullest.
Piling is out, filing is in. With garments stacked sideways, the individual pieces are both more visible and easier to get out.
Kids may develop bed-going routines that parents had better follow. Like craving the company of a soft toy or a favorite throw. Reserve a space just for them.

Some storage is more vital than others, e.g. knowing where to find a dummy at three in the morning. Have a nearby spot where you always return them.
When you’re into beautifully aged clothing, your wardrobe is useless if it can’t help you keep track of themes, years and colors. The name of the game is sorting. And proper lighting doesn’t hurt – to ensure your threads still have that special sparkle.
Begin with an overview. Arrange your wardrobe to see, and tell apart, what you have at a glance. Add an LED strip above, and your clothes will shine even brighter.
Ikea Closet Hacks To Maximize Your Space
Putting your outfit under the spotlight is always a good idea. So is having proper lighting in the wardrobe itself. Battery-operated LED spots let you tailor it down to individual shelves.
Having sorted your clothes is one thing, storing them another. Complete your wardrobe with a way to keep its contents organized, apart and always within easy reach.

We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the limited warranties and your right to return the products will be lost. The everyday ecosystem of clothes can be both fascinating and frustrating, but there’s no getting round it. On the other hand, following some easy rules can go a long way. We gathered all of them here – for wardrobes and clothes of all sizes and shapes.
How To Choose A Just Right Clothes Storage System
A tossed t-shirt or a pair of trousers on a chair. Then another shirt. By the end of a week, you have a clothing haystack to deal with. Or – you can resist gravity. A clothes rack or three gives you visibility, accessibility and a home free of textile piles. Also, they work great as room dividers.
Getting ready in the morning can involve both tough decisions and tight schedules. Organisers, boxes and inserts make it easier to view, find and grab what you need, helping to minimise starting time.
“Having a system for handling and caring for your clothes is an effective way to reduce clutter. A super easy tip to increase order, and reduce piling in the process, is to designate a spot to hang clothes that are worn but not quite ready to wash.”
Ikea Pax Office Organization: A Tour
Dressing up for occasions when you have time and energy is great. For most other days, however, a basic collection of no-nonsense garments can be a winning choice – easy to pick out and off you go.
If an empty spot on the shoe rack is hard to come by, how about an organiser that gives two shoes a home for the space of one?

It doesn’t enjoy the fame and status of its walk-in sibling, but the curtained wardrobe may well be the cleverer of the two. Part the fabric and you have a wall of couture in full view. Then close it for a calmer, softer look – and even reduced noise. If your bedroom isn’t the right place, take it elsewhere. Anywhere, in fact. When it’s not in use, simply shut the curtains and the room transforms back to its alter ego.

For final-tweak accessories or small-item holding for each family member, a wheeled drawer unit will do the trick. When it’s time for seasonal storage, simply load it up and roll it away.
Besides making the most of both space and budget, curtains work for more than rows of clothes. Like using a section of the wall for a dressing table. Getting ready in the morning is suddenly a one-stop shop.
It’s the small details that complete the best outfits. So take good care of them. Handy baskets like these help you keep track of any and all. (And they don’t just look good. They’re made from ninety percent recycled material, too.)

Some days it’s not until the rest of the outfit is in place that you realise what tiny addition will perfect your look. Keep those assets close, and you can make the most of both inspiration and accessibility.

If you haven’t read my “Current IKEA PAX Wardrobe Walk-In Closet” blog post, I highly suggest reading that first. It goes into detail why I was looking to upgrade, what I was looking for in my new closet and just a general idea on what my closet wants, and needs are. I’ve had the Pax system for years and couldn’t be happier with it. I love that it gives me the freedom to design a system that suits my personal preference. You’re able to decide on the overall height, length, colour and even style. I found it to be the most affordable option, when it comes to custom closets, without sacrificing style, design or quality.
Original Ideas For Organising Your Wardrobe
You, of course, can start with their pre-designed combinations, but you can also use their free PAX Wardrobe Planner to fully customize it and make it truly unique. You set your layout and then begin tailoring it to fit your space. Be sure to have your measurements ready, but besides that, everything else is done online with their planning tool. Have fun dragging and dropping what type of items you want in your closet all from the comfort of your own home. After you have your units and layout picked out, you can then have fun customizing it with added solutions for organizing. From shelves, shoe rails, pull-out functions, drawers and trays, the possibilities are endless.
My first tip, when looking to build your dream closet, is to utilize every inch. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to invest in an entirely new system but taking advantage of every area of your closet is key. Pay attention to your ceiling height and don’t be afraid to make use out of every inch of it. Unlike my previous closet, where I only had the 201cm height system, this time around I went with the 236cm ones. This not only created the illusion of taller ceilings, but it allowed for more storage. In total I have 6 Pax 100x58x236, 1 Pax 50x58x236 and a Pax Corner Unit. Because I wanted my space to feel like a boutique, I decided to keep it open-concept. Of course, IKEA does offer matching doors if you wanted your space to be more private.
